Raiffeisenbank is “Bank of the Year” 2006 in Bulgaria

RZB Group receives five awards in total. RZB and Raiffeisen International awarded as "Bank of the Year 2006" in Central and Eastern Europe. Additional awards for RZB in Austria and Raiffeisenbanks in Bulgaria, Croatia and Serbia.
The Banker, the renowned magazine of the Financial Times Group, awarded Raiffeisen Zentralbank Österreich AG (RZB) together with Raiffeisen International Bank-Holding AG the global title “Bank of the Year 2006” in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). In addition, RZB was awarded the title "Bank of the Year" in Austria. The Raiffeisenbanks in Bulgaria, Croatia and Serbia were also chosen as "Bank of the Year" in their respective home markets. The awards were presented at a reception ceremony in London yesterday.
The title "Bank of the Year" is awarded by The Banker for different regions, countries and categories. It is considered to be one of the most prestigious banking awards. The decision is not only based on quantitative criteria, such as asset growth or profitability, but also the development of state-of-the-art technical infrastructures and future-oriented strategies and their implementation.
Uniquely dynamic development in Central and Eastern Europe
Based on the decision by the jury, RZB and Raiffeisen International together are the "Bank of the Year 2006" in the growth region of CEE, after receiving the global award as "Bank of the Year 2005” in Emerging Markets already last year. "We are delighted by this award, as it not only proves the quality of our network in CEE, but also our pioneering role in the region which we have again underlined by our massive expansion in Russia this year," said Walter Rothensteiner, RZB's CEO and Raiffeisen International's Supervisory Board President.
"Raiffeisen attracts more than 100,000 new customers per month," added Herbert Stepic, CEO of Raiffeisen International. "The award acknowledges this uniquely dynamic development in combination with our sound business performance."

RZB was also awarded the title "Bank of the Year" in Austria. "This decoration underlines the pleasant development and the success of our customer business in Austria. Clear customer-focus, excellent service and product quality combined with innovative strength, give us the decisive edge in the market," said Rothensteiner.
Additional awards for Bulgaria, Croatia and Serbia
Raiffeisenbank Austria d.d., Zagreb, received the title "Bank of the Year" in Croatia for the first time. With total assets of 4.2 billion euros as of end of September 2006, it is the country's fourth-largest bank.
Raiffeisenbank (Bulgaria) EAD, Sofia, received the award for the second consecutive year. With total assets of 1.7 billion euros as of end of September 2006, it is the fourth-largest bank in the country. Established in 1994, it serves about 200,000 customers by way of 102 business outlets.
Raiffeisen banka a.d., Belgrade, was selected as "Bank of the Year" in Serbia for already the third time. In autumn 2000, Raiffeisen banka was the first bank to be established by western owners after the political changes. With a 33 per cent growth it is one of the fastest growing banks in the network of Raiffeisen International and with total assets of 1.9 billion euros (at the end of the third quarter 2006) it is by far the largest bank in the country.
